Speaking only for myself, I would expect the simple method of making
both date formats highlight all the time, and I would think the obvious
date format is what is really wanted, with the rest of the ISO standard
being very much optional for this purpose.

If I copy a line of Remind code from someone else, it may very well have
the dates the other way, and think I would prefer to see those still
highlighted, rather than having to choose one or the other.
