For interested parties:

=== man remind:
       %"     (percent-doublequote - ") is removed.  This sequence is
not used by the substitution filter, but is used to tell Remind which
text to include in a calendar entry when the -c,
              -s or -p option is chosen. See "Calendar Mode"
===

So %"Rehersals%" was in fact the correct usage.

Also,

                      (evaltrig("2012-05-30 *1 UNTIL 2012-06-11", x) == x)

Hopefully changing Tues to Thursday didn't cause any confusion, but
the example runs fine as copied on the version listed.
