I've been corresponding with Mark off-list, but haven't had much luck
diagnosing his problem.  I'm going to see if I can get on a Mac later
this week to sort things out.

In the meantime, I would appreciate hearing reports from:

   * OS X users who do NOT have problems with 1.4.0

   * non-OS X users who DO have problems with 1.4.0
