[Remind-Fans] how to keep .reminders file clean?

I've been thinking about including files in my .reminders named
'january', 'february' and so forth. Initially these files would be
empty and I would place only transient, one-shot reminders for the
current month in the appropriate file perhaps using a link named
'current' to point to the current month. When the same month rolls
around in the next year I would then delete all the entries in that
month's file and start again. This way I would just be keeping the last
year's worth of transient reminders. Reactions?
