I have been meaning to take a close look at your solution but still
haven't got round to studying the scripts in detail.

I use remind to manage my todo list but where there is no definite date
I use *1 for the reminder to appear until I delete it. That
basically means that I keep my remind files open all day so I can
edit/delete reminders as appropriate.


As I understand it your wrapper script allows you to manage the
reminders like a todo list? 
Once you are done with a task, do you manually edit the remind file?
