German weekdays (starting with Sunday):

  * Sonntag
  * Montag
  * Dienstag
  * Mittwoch
  * Donnerstag
  * Freitag
  * Samstag

And the month names:

  * Januar
  * Februar
  * März (or “Maerz” for non-Latin-1 or non-UTF-8 character sets)
  * April
  * Mai
  * Juni
  * Juli
  * August
  * September
  * Oktober
  * November
  * Dezember

The short forms are made up of the first letters of each name.
