I'm unlikely to accept such a patch.  It will impose an additional
maintenance and test burden.  Preprocessing the input data outside of
Remind is pretty simple and effective, so I don't think the additional
burden is worth it.

There is a standard libc function called getdate(), but IMO it's a
misfeature and a hack.
