Ah!  Thanks.  I've applied your fix.  As a workaround, you can use the
newer JSON-based intermediate formats, like this:

      remind -pp ... whatever | rem2pdf

or

      remind -ppp ... whatever | rem2pdf

Those ones will correctly work with the single-number SHADE.
