Stable will keep the current version until we release a new stable 
(expected next year) but I can upload the new version to the backports 
archive: https://backports.debian.org/. I will wait for the current 
version to hit testing (will be in 3 days) and then upload it, so should 
be there some time next week.

The new version uses the WGS84 format so those do not really make sense.
