When you compiled rp-pppoe, PPPD_PATH apparently wasn't being
set correctly.  Re-run ./configure and make sure it detects pppd.

If you see:

checking for pppd... NOTFOUND

then you need to make sure that pppd is on your PATH when you run ./configure.
