Hi,
I have been learning a lot as I go along about rp-pppoe through
experimentation and random blogs I find.
I'll start with this - it does not appear to be very stable.
Jul 19 02:46:37 computer pppd[15216]: No response to 5 echo-requests
Jul 19 02:46:37 computer pppd[15216]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Jul 19 02:46:37 computer pppd[15216]: Connect time 718.2 minutes.
Jul 19 02:46:37 computer pppd[15216]: Sent 2743659785 bytes, received
884463906 bytes.
Jul 19 02:46:43 computer pppd[15216]: Connection terminated.
Jul 19 02:46:44 computer pppd[15216]: Modem hangup
Jul 19 02:46:44 computer pppoe[15217]: read (asyncReadFromPPP):
Session 29557: Input/output error
Jul 19 02:46:44 computer pppoe[15217]: Sent PADT
Jul 19 02:46:44 computer pppd[15216]: Exit.
Jul 19 02:46:44 computer pppoe-connect: PPPoE connection lost;
attempting re-connection.
The line that concerns me above is
Jul 19 02:46:44 computer pppoe[15217]: read (asyncReadFromPPP):
Session 29557: Input/output error
And from my own dumps it would appear that we stop responding to
heartbeats from the peer. That is we don't send back an echo.
So much so I am thinking of removing these from config
LCP_INTERVAL
LCP_FAILURE
and setting up my own checks on the link to the service provider. Or
get a Cisco.....
What are peoples thoughts?
Thanks
