I think it's a user error, or rather a problem iwth your .reminders file.

Do this
remind -s12 -irem2ics=1 ~/.reminders 1 Jan 2007 >reminders.slist

And then look at reminders.slist.  Notice that that every single
event happens on every single day.  This isn't a rem2ics problem.
